Lessons learned

Collision prevention requires navigational equipment, training and bridge organisation to provide usable information within the time available; higher speeds reduce the time available for assessment and response; traffic monitoring should not depend solely on a single Master; VDR recordings enable organisational learning following occurrences; risk perception and communication should be developed within the operational context.
